Nick Peacock
You could say that my destiny was already planned out for me! Before I was born, my grandfather, Harold Peacock was a dental technician working for various dentists in the 1930’s. My father, Derek, then followed suit and went on to build a successful dental laboratory called Ecodent in Leeds, West Yorkshire. When I left school, I joined Ecodent to work for my father, as did my older brother, Daryl, and shortly after my younger brother, Christopher.
My grandfather would have been proud to see all of his descendants following in his footsteps! I attended Kitson College of Technology in Leeds and was awarded the Dental Technician’s Certificate with credits in 1978. At Ecodent, I began to realise that many patients were suffering with their dentures and that some dentists struggled to understand the mechanical side of dentures.
This became clear to me when dentists began sending their patients to our lab, to adjust their dentures correctly. Occasionally, they would ask us to re-make the dentures, taking the impressions ourselves. I discovered some dentists were avoiding making dentures altogether, and with this knowledge, I began planning my own practice where I could help these patients. After extensive research, I finally made the decision to leave Ecodent and set up my own practice in Shipley.
This was a life-changing decision, I had worked with my brothers for so long – to take this huge step was not only risky but also very emotional. In 1995 I opened Direct Dentures (later to become ‘Smile on the Square’). I continued to work alongside Ecodent, as I was their only crown and bridge technician at the time, portioning my week between the two companies. When the KSS deanery developed the Clinical Dental Technology diploma in 2008 we were so excited as a dental team as it meant a way forward for us in a more professional and convenient manner.
I was very apprehensive about the course initially, as it has been a number of years since I last attended anything of this magnitude. But it meant so much for expanding the business and more importantly, for our patients. I qualified as a CDT with distinctions in 2011. I can honestly say that that our practice has moved so far forward on a professional scale – it truly is an achievement, and I feel proud and honoured to have experienced this wonderful opportunity. I hope that I can continue to serve my patients in their best interests for the foreseeable future. PS and No, my children did not follow in my footsteps but have successful careers of their own.

Nik Stoy
Having been born and raised in Yorkshire, I studied dentistry at Newcastle Dental School and then followed up training with a year working around the North East. The temptation to move back to my home county was simply too much, so I came back to where I belonged: Yorkshire! Soon after qualifying, I knew I had a passion for cosmetic dentistry and have attended a vast array of courses to help me develop my skills in this area.
I undertake all parts of dentistry and facial aesthetics, including dental implants, orthodontics, Invisalign, anti-wrinkle treatment, smile makeovers, veneers/crowns, root canal treatments and cosmetic restorations. There are many different factors to be considered when carrying out cosmetic dentistry, all of which are considered at the consultation to achieve the very best results. My skills allow me to offer the complete package to my patients which, in some cases, can provide life-changing results!
My approach to dentistry is one that is very patient-oriented. I like to spend time with my patients to hear exactly what it is they would like and how they want to achieve it. Once that part is understood, we work together to come up with a treatment plan to get them there, in a calm, relaxing environment! I also can’t stand pain – so don’t worry, everything will be done to ensure treatments are carried out painlessly and with your comfort in mind! I love to keep learning, which allows me to use cutting-edge techniques and the latest skills/technology to provide the most up-to-date dentistry available. You will often find me on courses all over the world, with my latest ones being in Cairo and Italy!
I completed my master’s degree in dental implantology in 2021, which gives me the theory and skills to undertake the more complex implant cases at the practice. In my spare time, I enjoy watching and playing football, skiing, golf and socialising with friends. My love for Italian food also means I have to go to the gym to keep the pizza belly at bay!

Dr Rose-Marie Earnden
I graduated from the University of Leeds in 2020, and from that moment, I knew I’d never leave Yorkshire. The rich culture, friendly communities, and stunning countryside have become an integral part of my life, inspiring me both personally and professionally.
Over the past few years, my passion for dentistry has evolved significantly, particularly in the fields of aesthetic and restorative dentistry. I pursued advanced training and education in these areas, employing the latest techniques and technologies. This commitment enables me to offer my patients a unique blend of functional and aesthetic solutions that cater to their individual needs.
In my practise, I focus on a variety of treatments designed to enhance the natural beauty of smiles and restore the health of damaged teeth. This can range from teeth whitening and veneers to intricate dental restorations. What drives me is the ability to transform not only the physical aspects of a patient’s dental health but also their overall confidence and self-esteem. By fostering strong relationships with my patients, I aim to create a welcoming space where they feel heard, valued, and empowered to take charge of their dental health. I believe that a beautiful smile can change lives, and it’s incredibly rewarding to witness the positive impact my work has on my patients’ lives.
Beyond my professional endeavours, I prioritise staying active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I enjoy running, swimming, cycling and taking leisurely walks with my dog, who is my constant companion. These activities not only keep me fit but also allow me to clear my mind and recharge. I firmly believe that achieving a healthy balance between work and personal life is essential for overall well-being. This philosophy is reflected in the care I provide to my patients.
